FAQ

Did you go to school for this?

YES! : D I sure did! I graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA with a BA in Portraiture.

What time of day do you shoot and how long does it usually take?

I like to start the session about two hours before the sun sets, so the time varies based on the time of year. Most lifestyle sessions take about 1-2 hours. I like to plan enough time for everyone to feel relaxed and not stressed for time racing the sunset.

What is a lifestyle session?

A lifestyle session is everything from a family session to a newborn session…. pretty much anything that depicts your current lifestyle.

Do you photograph events other than weddings?

I sure do! Depending on the size of the event and what it is, my hourly rate is $350.

Can I bring my pet to the session?

Of course! Feel free to bring anything that’s important to you to help tell your story, plus I love animals : )

What should we wear?

I would just suggest clothes that you are comfortable in and that represent your style. The more comfortable and confident you feel, the easier it will be to be photographed.  The more accessories, the better! Hats and jewelry are always fun! Feel free to bring along anything of significance or favorite items. Pretty much anything that helps tell the story of who you are and what you love to do. : ) If it’s a family session, try to color coordinate. The Neff, Melikian & Blodgett families did a great job so you can use them as examples.

Can we do a clothing change?

Yes, of course!  You are welcome to bring as many outfits as you’d like.  Since there isn’t a time limit on the session, you don’t have to worry about fitting it into a specific time.

What if we need to reschedule?

That’s totally fine! I try to be as flexible as possible. I know life can be crazy, especially if you have kids! : )  I limit the number of family sessions per week so if we need to reschedule, it’s not a problem.

How much do you need to pay to reserve the date?

For both weddings and lifestyle sessions, I require half of the payment up front as a retainer to reserve the date.  For weddings, the second half of the payment is due two weeks prior to the wedding date.  For lifestyle sessions, the second half of the payment is due on the day of the shoot.

Do you travel?

Yes, I am available for travel worldwide.  I travel regularly to the following places (without a travel fee):

San Francisco, Santa Barbara & Los Angeles, CA ~ Lubbock, TX ~ New York City, NY ~ Seattle, WA ~ Denver, CO

Please contact me with any additional locations you might be interested in and we can work something out! : )

How soon will I receive the photos?

It takes about 6 weeks for weddings and 2 weeks for lifestyle sessions and other events.

What format do you deliver the photos in? CD? DVD?

I post the photos online for you to share with all your family and friends.  You can download all the images straight from there but I also give you all the edited digital files on a personalized USB drive.

Do you retouch all the photos?

I don’t really care for retouching. It kind of goes against everything I’m about. I believe you are beautiful just the way you are. It’s my job to photograph you, not change the way you look.  Although, if it’s your wedding day and you have a pimple, I will remove it.  If your child happened to fall or scrape something right before the session, I will do my best to fix it.  : )
